A Foreword to "From Glory To Glory"

From Brad and Misty Bernall

For Dr. Paul N. Gervais

"While traveling down this roller coaster called life, we endure steep falls and climbs, as well as exhilarating highs and calm plateaus, all the while never knowing what the next day may bring, but hoping that God's will would be done in, and through, us.

On April 20, 1999, our hearts plummeted with the knowledge that our daughter, Cassie, was killed by a student gunman, after she answered..."Yes" to his questioning of her belief in God. How could this be? She was so faithful to Him, so worthy of His protection. How could Misty and I ever ask that His will be made known to us, now that He, seemingly, abandoned our Cassie?

As the following days turned into weeks, what we considered a strong faith, commenced to diminish. Misty and I actually began to question the very existence of the Father we had taken refuge in, and the co-existing Trinity. Doubting His reality was very disturbing, while still clinging to what was a mere shred of faith. Now, more than ever, was the time that we needed God, and His Holy Spirit, to be surrounding us, imparting supernatural comfort and healing. Where was He?

That was when Paul was really there for us. We found that he was a man of God, who could be trusted, one who spoke with much wisdom, that of which we had never heard before. Surely discerning the Father's instructions, he has ministered greatly to us, in more ways than one, through his obedience to God.

As a direct result of Paul's display of faithfulness, our own flicker of faith has been fanned. The recovery from this "spiritual trough" has begun, like a breath of oxygen to a dimming candle.

Dr. Gervais would often say, "Be still and hear the Spirit whisper. Then, follow the nudgings and promptings He gives you." We did, while acting on other suggestions from him. The subsequent blessings are too numerous to mention. Our faith has been renewed and continues to grow by leaps and bounds.

Paul has a God-given ability to discern the Word, as it is written and spoken to him by the Holy Spirit. That ability is completed through his obedience to the Creator, and the way he teaches others what our Dad wants us to know about Him and His ways. Like many, Misty and I need spiritual counsel from someone wiser than ourselves. Through Dr. Gervais' knowledge and encouragement, we have realized that He was there all the time. And His will was being done in our lives and completed in Cassie's. For that, Paul, we are forever thankful to you!"
