Perfection In Christ!

which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live
on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord."
Deuteronomy 8:3
"This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our
hearts at rest in his presence whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is
greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. Dear friends, if our hearts do
not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him everything
we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him." 1 John 3:19-22
Often, when meeting with patients, I run into individuals who have been
conditioned to perfectionism and personal rigidity by their families of origin
and external environments. Almost invariably, psychological disorders and
personal unhappiness surface, as a direct result of that obviously and naturally
impossible posture.
In diagnosing any victim of erroneous thinking, using DSM-IV Codes, on Axis
II, Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder may well be a part of that
person's psychological profile. From Axis II, we venture to Axis I...presenting
predominant pathology. In that realm, unrealistic expectations usually lead to
anxiety, depression and adjustment disorders. They seemingly follow an
absence of balance and truth.
As life goes on, compulsions, such as workaholism and significant
dissociation, are used to medicate the associated pain of denial, unhealthy thinking
and imbalance. Consequently, a perception of never measuring up to expected
standards fuels the fire. Since we can't be perfect without Christ, most of us
develop a sense of rejection, abandonment, defectiveness, guilt, shame and
fragmented identity, all of which is brought into our Christian behaviors and
walks. When trying not to sin, without Heaven's Helper, a proverbial brick wall
ends that endeavor. Frustration ensues, a false self-concept leading to
distancing oneself from Heaven's Twins...Goodness and Mercy, the very Grace of
God required for sanctification.
Indeed, like the physical growth of a tree, we're talking about a
progressive, gradual, yet ongoing process. The Bible depicts spiritual maturity as a
Glory to Glory journey.
Envision the previously mentioned tree. You could wrap your arms around its
base and hug that growth for five years, without experiencing increase.
Nevertheless, expansion is still taking place. Such is the case when a quality
decision is made to follow Christ. The Believer, from day to day, becomes more
like Him, shedding old sins, habits, thoughts, compulsions and addictions, not
by way of an arm of flesh, but the by Glory of God! Again, plainly stated,
you can't be like Jesus without Him!
Did you ask to be in this world? Were the circumstances of life your
determination? Absolutely not! Unless Glory leads us to suspend the laws of nature,
and that sometimes happens when humanity is to be benefited, we aren't in
control of most circumstances and situations. Instead, the Spirit-led Christian
is independent of them, as was the Apostle Paul, through the Blood Covenant
of Christ.
Seriously ponder this. The Lord not only created us in His express likeness
and image, but has also imparted and infused vision, faith, gifts, fruit and
the blueprint of destiny. When coming into the Kingdom, we yield a free moral
agency to Papa's inherent faith and guidance, under the influence of the
Holy Spirit, while all Heaven moves in response to that decision. The Almighty's
hand then enters each name into the Lamb's Book of Life. Facets of Covenant,
purchased through the Savior's obedience, are also independent of any man's
efforts or achievements. The Believer's part has always been easy. Hear!
Surrender! Accept! The Living Word performs the rest.
Nothing can stand in the way of God's promises. They are as good as gold,
never losing their worth or potency. Our job is to be a good student...attend
classes, complete homework assignments, via reading the Word, being obedient
to those nudgings and promptings, while casting down vain imaginations,
passing pop quizzes and tests. We are consequently in line for certain promotion by
the System. In this case, the Lord's talking about a graduation initiated
and accredited by the Throne Room. Associated with that, once more, is a
perfection, not according to worldly standards, but Heaven's, as well as a
perpetual Blood cleansing of spirit, soul and body, a working out of that salvation,
if you will.
I like what Kathryn Kuhlman once said. "Father, if you can use nothing, here
I am!" Only an empty vessel can be filled. Picture a full glass. There isn't
room for further infilling. By judging our walk on a daily basis, the
Christian postures himself to appropriate God's forgiveness and transformation
Power, giving Satan no place to bring up a past that's already been forgiven and
forgotten. Thus, you and I become "perfect" in Him, the very righteousness of
God in Christ.
It's interesting how worldly relationships directly affect one's mindset
toward the Heavenly Father. Many of us were raised in homes where parents may
have been absent, emotionally and/or physically. Some have been tormented and
mistreated in various ways, thus translating that negative treatment into a
belief that they weren't loved, and obviously remain unlovable. At this
junction, such damage has been done in the soulish realm, even beginning to fathom
God's unconditional affection and gifting is impossible. There's simply too
much baggage in the way, memories far outweighing current words and concepts. A
renewing of the mind and leaning on the Holy Spirit are essential here. Only
the Third Person of the Trinity can impart and convince us of who we are in
Christ. That's His job!
Processing the past has always been beneficial. Looking at scrapbooks and
photo albums promotes a full-spectrum of thoughts...some good, others bad.
Nevertheless, if one were to live, move and have his being within those pages of
nostalgia, he'd be in dire trouble, since there would be no motivation for,
or illumination of, forward movement and thinking. When memories outweigh and
supersede dreams and visions, there can be no future!
That's easily understood. We can't occupy our respective minds with two
concurrent thoughts without becoming confused and losing focus. Maintaining a
"single eye" of faith...comprised of revelatory truth, is what Kingdom growth
and effectiveness are all about.
Each Christian is holding a Channel (thought) Changer in his hand. When
encountering an imagination or projection not lining up with the Word or
faith-infused revelations, we are to hit the button and change the program, a
decision and move embracing the casting down of vain imaginations and high thoughts,
while making room for Heaven's flow of newness. Your future is in the Glory.
One's past has nothing to do with God's ultimate destiny for each life.
I discern the Holy Spirit's excitement about this topic. Let's enter His
classroom!
Christ...Our Sufficiency!
"Beloved, from day one, I've yearned for nothing more than relationship, an
impartation of Heaven into your realm of living and being. Satan's plan has
clearly been to interrupt that process and desire. Original man was never
expected to jump through ridiculous religious hoops, or earn his way into Glory's
Presence. Instead, he was chosen and set ablaze with Heaven's Presence, from
the loins up and down, having been granted full provision in everything
pertaining to life and godliness. At the fall, a determination had already been
made on this end, to redeem the world from the curse of the law, through the
yieldedness of Christ. Listen attentively! I do yearn for your heart and
opportunities to show Myself strong on the Children's behalf. No record of wrongs
is being maintained in the Secret Place. Glory's files overflow with plans
involving destiny and fulfillment of the Contract. A spillage has already
begun, an overflow pregnant with the miraculous...signs, wonders and miracles,
answers to previously unsolved difficulties. Prepare for direct intervention, as
Heaven kisses earth. Did Jesus not pray, 'Thy will be done on earth, even as
it is in Heaven?' Surely! This is a day for getting over oneself, breaking
through that membrane of resistance, unbelief, tradition, helplessness and
fainting, in favor of making room for the awesomeness and bigness of Dad's
thoughts! In the past, My ways have been above yours, and past finding out.
However, the Holy Spirit was dispatched, two-thousand years ago, for the express
purpose of revelation and empowerment. As you surrender all, and yes...this is
an all or nothing deal, no good thing will be withheld. Lack will not be a
part of your vocabulary. In weakness, Glory's strength will be perfected. Dead
men have no faith. Yet, they were abundantly raised during Jesus' earthly
ministry. One can't be any weaker than when deceased. So shall it be in this day
and age. The Great Commission hasn't changed its mandate. When dying to, and
arriving at an end of, self, a new walk becomes available, one that is best
described as a flow, not unlike floating on a Cloud. Enjoying one's being in
the Spirit is never to be a struggle, but a palpable journey of promotion and
performance of exploits. As related before, I will first arrive in Presence,
then Person. Make way for that unprecedented outpouring, which has already
been dispatched!"
