The Wilderness...Our Friend!
"Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is
prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter
and former rain unto the earth." Hosea 6:3

hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for

I so vividly remember those marvelous days of childhood when Dad took his
only son on hunting and fishing jaunts. Just being with him was a load of fun,
in more ways than one. Whenever we hunted, the man compulsively lit up an old
pipe, which likely emptied the forest of every inherently created species.
For years, we'd spend hours and days in the woods without spotting a single
deer. To the contrary, it's interesting. In my current neighborhood, wildlife
are often encountered on nightly walks. In fact, we're getting to know each
other quite well, from stalking foxes to curious deer and moose. It can get
pretty wild in Maine...no pun intended.
Nevertheless, years ago, before Dad finally quit, smoking and he were
inseparable. In fact, I gave Father a whole lot of flack over the habit. After all,
Paul wanted to shoot something! For a season, a major question plagued my
mind: "Are there any wild animals in Maine?" It was apparent that other hunters
were bagging their limit, but we rarely spotted a bony squirrel. The only
deer encountered were tethered to vehicles of the lucky ones...those
non-smokers. Obviously, to me, the species existed, but that couldn't be proven by us.
So, hope was instilled for my future through the success of competing
sportsmen.
The day finally arrived when Dad ran out of tobacco, a revelation that
didn't make my hunting companion very happy. As we both followed a long mountain
trail, I was chuckling beyond measure on the inside. We finally stood a
chance! Within ten minutes of our ascent, a huge doe yielded to the projectile
within my rifle. Dad's high-powered firearm jammed, as I did some serious
business in Maine. Two others met the same fate shortly thereafter. I won't say who
brought down them down!
Fishing seemed more mutually fulfilling, since aquatic life wasn't too
intimidated by smoke. Short of my falling/jumping into the lake or stream, most of
the trout and their friends would hang around long enough to envision our
bait and be caught.
Those memorable moments with Father will always remain with me. In giving
the other side...his, due credit, he did have to tolerate a proliferation of
questions from "the Kid," along with constant chatter and complaints, the fact
that I regularly plunged into streams and other holes, tripped over limbs and
small trees. If Maine had had quicksand, Dad's youngster would have found
it. The good news, and there was some back then, is the fact that I never shot
him, even though Dad assumed a lead position whenever the two of us walked
through the woods.
I don't believe he had a death wish. Yet, this ex-Marine, surviving Iwo Jima
and other beachheads, as well as "dud bombs" falling into his foxhole and
striking his boot, was hooked by me more than once during castings. He yelled
without ceasing and had a well-functioning central nervous system, traumatized
as it might have been by his companion.
We were a dysfunctional family, similar to many others in this nation.
Regardless of that, Father knew what turned his boy on and was usually willing to
set valuable time aside to cultivate both bonding and relationship. In line
with that, somebody once asked, "How does one get close to his children?" The
answer is blatantly obvious. Discover their passions! Jump in, and do it with
them! My Dad did!
Let's take a small side trip for a moment. The deer in those woods and the
fish in that water were all placed in our environment by God for His Beloved.
He's predisposed to bless and show favor! Fun remains the Creator's middle
name. Indeed, the Almighty has been, and will always be, a Giver! Even when I
didn't know Him, the Lord was discovering new and creative opportunities to
bless Paul Gervais, which flowingly ties us into the theme of this chapter.
I personally had a blast in the wilderness. It was a place of anticipation,
expectancy and fruition. If you'll give this topic some serious thought,
comparable memories will likely surface. Many of your better days were probably
spent and enhanced in similar locales that lacked twentieth century
entrapments and life-draining busyness. Nature is very appealing to most of us!
Whenever "wilderness experiences" are mentioned in the company of some
Christians, moans, groans and winces readily manifest. Why might that be? Well,
most people, particularly in the Body of Christ, possess negative schemas and
displaced connotations, relative to that venue, because of misunderstandings
and a misinterpretations of the Word.
You see, two particular scenarios pop into our heads, when hearing that
adrenaline-triggering word...the Children of Israel's wilderness challenges, in
addition to Jesus' stay there, prior to His most effective miracle ministry of
two-thousand-years ago.
It's all in how we frame an event. Contemplating everything that transpired
in those separate, but similar, assignments, I have arrived at an exciting
conclusion. The wilderness was, and continues to be, a spiritual locale of the
most plentiful signs, wonders and miracles imaginable!
How so? The Children of Israel attended a never-ending miracle service in
their wilderness walk, from Supernatural meals of daily manna and quail, to
being led by a Pillar of Cloud by day and Pillar of Fire at night. They
witnessed a mass defeat of all enemies. Their shoes never wore out. Each pair had to
conclusively grow around the feet that adorned them! Waters parted, and other
previously impossible acts unfolded.
What about Jesus, following His Baptism in the Jordan River? The Word says,
"He was led of the Spirit into the wilderness." It's wrong to believe that
the Master's stay there was for the sole purpose of being tempted, since God
won't lead us into temptation. To the contrary, the Savior was recipient of
wisdom and knowledge, of which He emptied Himself before leaving Heaven and
manifesting His earthly birth.
Sure, the Master was tested via hell's opposition, which has always been the
case with the Believer's journey of following Him, particularly when the
Church is in the center of God's perfect will. Right in that "dry place," the
blueprint for the Redeemer's ministry...experiences of defeating the tempter in
all regions...spirit, soul and body, was a thoroughly enjoyed reaping of
what had been sown. Christ finally exited that desert in the Power of the Holy
Spirit. The commencement of Jesus' ministry of preaching the Word, healing the
sick, casting out devils and raising the dead had begun!
Don't ever become discouraged or disenchanted in those days, months and
sometimes years of waiting. All times and seasons rest within God's able and
anointed hands. You were indeed fashioned for greatness in Him as a Citizen of
Heaven, born and kept to glorify the Risen Christ.
A good general would never simultaneously dispatch all of his troops into
the battle field at once. Soldiers are strategically reserved and spaced out in
the unfolding of war's strategy. Such is the case with our
Commander-in-Chief. The Warrior's vital commission will make itself clear in due season. In
that stillness is a confidence and knowing.
The Revelator is here for an abundance of impartation and understanding.
Let's attend to His instruction.
Discouragement...The Antithesis Of Faith!
"Destined Child, know this! You were not created and established on this
earth to live mundanely, boringly and repetitively, while yielding to the cares
of this world and the deceitfulness of influence. The Great I Am has never
decreed that His Followers were to ever yield their boundaries to the
adversary, or be on the business end of a beating. What can't touch Heaven should
never be able to reach the Family. Faith-filled words are to dominate the law of
sin and death. Worry and negative rumination have no place in your walk, as
both are essentially an unnecessary prepayment for the antithesis of the
Kingdom's revelatory, which will always be exciting, invigorating and rewarding.
Has it not been written that the Bride is to take no thought for tomorrow?
Air, food, water and light are accorded for each 24-hour period. Sufficient unto
this day is the true Bread of Life, or Power to accomplish all Supernatural
tasks in and for the Kingdom. You are in a Covenant and position of 'always
having' full sufficiency in everything pertaining to life and godliness. Had I
not prophetically promised you two new U. S. Supreme Court Justices through
this ministry's (Archives) prophetic disclosure, along with a Heaven-sent
President (Archives)? Was the conflict in Iraq not forth told and presented to
the world, long before that nation had ever become a vital consideration
(vision...Archives)? Dad does nothing at all without first telling His Servants,
the Prophets. Has that proverbial mark ever been missed when following the
Author and Finisher of Faith? Let Me further enlighten this planet concerning
the days ahead. The staunchest of America's foes will be discovered and
uncovered through a proliferation of intelligence from, and yieldedness to, the God
of all flesh. Not a hair on Israel's head will perish. To the extent that
any nation might raise a hand against the Apple of Heaven's Eye, each will fail
and fall in measurable fashion. Healing has actively begun in the Household
of Faith. Before Glory's Army can be released into the Harvest, a message of
victory and certainly must be gained. It's like this: Everyone walks around
with myths, as well as various lies and distortions about self, other people,
places, things and circumstances. Precious Child, you are only one
revelation away from deliverance and turning this world upside down with the very
fruit of your epiphany. Know no man after the flesh, but perceive people and
situations through the prophetic eye of faith. Consider the Great High Priest,
the fact that He had to enter into every detail of human life to be effective
in His Office and position. Mounting pressures? Exponential Glory! This is
not the day to worry or ruminate, but to faith the revelatory into being,
countering high thoughts and vain imaginations with dreams and visions, while
casting down the contrary lower life for that higher promotional walk in Him. The
Wind is about to shift in your walk. As with the Children of Israel or sail
on a boat, you must obey only one Influence..Mine, and refuse to be hindered
by fear...that proverbial baseline of the past. The Visionary is ongoingly
looking toward the 'real and authentic' of the Spirit for insight and
direction. That which can be discerned by the senses had its origin in the Fifth
Dimension. Consequently, the unseen possesses a loftier level of reality than the
physically tangible and palpable. The Bride has been granted Heaven's Eye of
Faith, a clear advantage over those attempting to carry out the wiles of the
enemy. Like a magnet, gestation and confession attract the substance of
things hoped for, the evidence of the previously invisible. Prophesy and call
those things which be not as though they were until each becomes. Refuse to be
moved by what you see. Pay heed to that originating in and through the read,
spoken and revealed Word. It will be, even as I have told thee!"
